A select group of organisations and individuals of Queensland’s geospatial community were commended for their contributions at the state’s Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence awards on August 24.

Four businesses and seven individuals received accolades across a range of categories, including spatial innovation, people and community, women in leadership, education development, spatial enablement, and technical excellence.

The awards were run by SIBA|GITA and the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI), to recognise excellence in services and products related to surveying, mapping, remote sensing, geographic software, GPS technology, and location intelligence.

SIBA|GITA CEO Deanna Hutchinson commended the award winners, and the diversity of Queensland’s spatial industry.

“I am really impressed with the degree of influence spatial information clearly has on the way communities, farmers and governments manage resources. The projects shared through these awards demonstrate the dedication and drive of the industry’s best professionals, working in collaboration with the wider community,” she said.
