APSEA South Australia award winners announced

The recipients of the 2021 APSEA South Australia award were announced at the recent celebratory dinner in Adelaide.

The awards are presented by the Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) and the SIBA|GITA- Spatial Industries Business Association.

The SSSI individual award winners are:

  • Professional of the year: Mark Deuter (Aerometrex)
  • Future leader of the year: Jennifer Brindle (Precision Hydrographic Services (PHS))
  • Education development: David Bruce (University of South Australia & Flinders University
  • Postgraduate student: Amelie Jeanneau (University of Adelaide)
  • Undergraduate student: Gemma Sansom (University of Adelaide)

The SIBA|GITA- Spatial Industries Business Association industry award winners are:

  • Technical excellence: Aerometrex (for LIDAR and Deep Learning-derived Permeable and Impermeable Ground Surface Classification, Metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia)
  • Environment and sustainability: Aerometrex and City of Unley (Very high-resolution LIDAR-derived tree canopy change detection to explore financial measures to improve tree canopy cover on private land, The City of Unley, Adelaide)
  • Community impact: Tonkin and Kangaroo Island Council (Kangaroo Island Fire Damage Assessment 2020)
  • Spatial enablement: Tonkin and Port Pirie regional council (Port Pirie Regional Council Patrol Grading Applications)
  • Innovation – small business: GP One Consulting (Landscape Online Information System)
