By on 14 March, 2017

Each year at the annual Locate conference, GITA ANZ award both the Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) and Excellence awards. GITA (now part of the SIBA-GITA alliance) will be once again awarding its 2017 awards in conjunction with Locate17 Conference, to be held April 3-6 in Sydney as a joint conference with the Digital Earth Symposium.

Nominations are now open for the 2017 Excellence Award and nominations will close 17 March 2017. This award was introduced in 1992 to raise the profile of spatial technology in all industries and to recognise the efforts of the organisations and people who transform ideas into a working reality and importantly push the technology to increase both business and community benefits in the realm of infrastructure planning, development and management.

Last year’s prize went to Global GBM and the Northern Territory Department of Communication and Information Services (NTDCIS). Global GBM’s mobile GIS solution for field worker was the subject of cover story ”Off the Grid, but still in working Territory” in the October/November 2016 issue of Position Magazine.

As with 2016, the 2017 awards will again be presented alongside the APSEA (Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence) awards at the main conference dinner, providing broad exposure to this year’s award winners.

The Excellence Award is open to all industry, not just members of SIBA/GITA ANZ.

The nomination fee for the SIBA/GITA ANZ Members is free and $250 per application for non-members. The awards will be judged by a panel of Past GITA Presidents.
