Let NASA run you through the A-Z of aerial imagery, spelling out the alphabet only with geographical features.

I’ve seen plenty of running maps before, but this Star Wars fan on Geoawesomeness went to unprecedented detail to map out Darth Vader, a storm trooper and an AT-AT using only his joggers and a GNSS tracker.

GIS User posed the question, Have Infographics and Data Visualizations Ruined Good Map Design? Judging by some of the maps they feature in this article, there’s a lot to suggest it is has.

The Map Room alerted me to this week’s Functional Maps International Conference, a conference dedicated to creating maps of places that don’t exist. Unfortunately, it’s in Poland, so if you’re in the vicinity please go and tell me how it was!

The Map Room also featured a link demonstrating the power of persuasive cartography– propaganda in the form of maps.

Maps Mania featured the Miniatur Wunderland Street View, which saw Street View taken to a whole new scale: now you can walk around the world’s largest model railway as if you’re two inches tall.

Maps Mania also showed how you can create your own planet using programmable digital globe, Planet 3D. Note: coding skills required.
