Lockheed Martin Australia (LMA) has been awarded a $20 million contract to support the Australian Geospatial Intelligence Organisation (AGO).

The development comes hot on the heels of a separate announcement of $1.2 million in AGO funding for two other Australian businesses and a university.

The new program with LMA, known as South COAST, will be managed, overseen, and staffed by Australians with “reach-back” into Lockheed Martin’s global corporation “for support at the technological edge and to facilitate skills transfer”.

The two-year contract will see LMA staff and contractors working side-by-side with AGO personnel supporting the operation and sustainment of sovereign ICT geospatial mission systems that are critical to the analysis and dissemination of geospatial intelligence.

“We’re very proud of this contract, which aligns strongly with Government’s vision of a robust, resilient and internationally competitive defence industry sector,” said LMA’s regional director for Space, David Ball.

“As a long-term partner in the defence and national security sector, delivering resilient and sovereign capability at the cutting edge is at the heart of LMA’s vision, whether that’s supporting Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, military satellite communications, Space Domain Awareness or beyond.”
