If you are a surveyor looking to acquire your professional development points for the year, you can now do so at one of the biggest spatial and surveying events to reach Australia.
Taking place 3-6 April 2017 in Sydney, the Locate17 Conference and Digital Earth Symposium has just released details of the professional development points that are available to delegates from each Australian state or territory.
The conference program has been designed to have the cadastral and practicing surveying subjects required to fulfil the various professional development schemes. Registered surveyors in New South Wales, for example, will be able to earn up to 12.5 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, while those from Victoria will receive up to 11.5 Further Professional Education and Training (FPET) points. The full details are listed below.
Highlights of the event for surveyors include a panel discussion with multiple Surveyor Generals from the various states and territories, a keynote from NSW Surveyor General Narelle Underwood, in-depth discussions about Australia’s datum modernisation program and demonstrations of the latest surveying technologies.
Details of the professional development points available for the conference are as follows:
NSW/ACT
- Wednesday 5 April: 3 Cadastral Points and 3.5 Survey Practice Points for Surveying Stream Only. 6.5 Survey Practice Points for all other Streams.
- Thursday 6 April: 6 Survey Practice Points for all Streams
Victoria
- Wednesday 5 April: 6 “Other Category” FPET points.
- Thursday 6 April: 5.5 “Other Category” FPET points.
Northern Territory
- Wednesday 5 April: 6 points.
- Thursday 6 April: 6 points.
South Australia
- Wednesday 5 April: 6 CPD SSSI points.
- Thursday 6 April: 6 CPD SSSI points.
Western Australia
- Attendance at any of the “Land Surveying & Administration” presentations on Wednesday 5 April between 11.55am and 5.45 pm will earn WA LSLB Cadastral Education CPD points at a rate of one point per hour or part thereof to a maximum of three points. All other sessions will earn WA LSLB General Education CPD points at the same rate of one point per hour.
Tasmania
- For Tasmanian registered land surveyors with professional development requirements Locate 17 will attract one point per hour of attendance under the ‘General Education’ category. Where presentations or workshops in the conference’s Land Surveying and Administration stream are directly applicable to the Tasmanian cadastral surveying environment 1.5 points per hour of attendance at those sessions may be claimed under the ‘Land Survey-related Education’ category.
Queensland
- CPD not required.
