The Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) runs regular webinars and seminars on a variety of topics of interest to those in the surveying, spatial and space fields.

Here’s a list of events coming up in the next few weeks.

24 February: SSSI & SIBA|GITA Merger Consultation – Session 1

SSSI and SIBA|GITA invite members of both organisations to join the first online consultation session to hear more about the ongoing discussions regarding the merger of the two organisations and the importance of this initiative. Members will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions at the session.

1 March: ACT 2022 Online Surveying Seminar

The first SSSI ACT Surveying Seminar for the year will be an opportunity for members and other local surveying professionals to hear the latest updates from the Office of the Surveyor-General on legislation changes and more.

2 March: A brief update on Native Title compensation claims and cultural protection issues

This webinar will provide an understanding on how native title came to be recognised, enshrined in law and then subject to future acts and compensation. The law will be explained as it currently stands, and an explanation given to put current issues in context. The focus will largely turn to compensation claims which make the next wave of native title disputation in our Courts. The speaker will be Peter Matus, Special Counsel at Salerno Law.

3 March: Tasmanian Legislation & National Competency Review Online Workshop

SSSI Tasmania has partnered with the Tasmanian Office of the Surveyor-General to present this online workshop covering the latest news relating to the review of the Strata Titles Act and the CRSBANZ National Standard of Competency for Surveyors project.

3 March: Underwater Mapping Webinar Series – HIPP

This is the sixth instalment in the SSSI’s underwater mapping webinar series, a partnership between its Remote Sensing & Photogrammetry and Hydrography Commissions. The speaker, Phil Wells, will provide a summary of HIPP projects to date, highlights from the most recent HIPP conference and success/challenges of selected projects.

Each of the webinars and seminars attracts one or more CPD points.
