Maker of fixed-wing RPAs for industrial applications senseFly has announced a new version of its eBee X that features the Micasense RedEdge-MX multispectral camera.

The companies are calling the new offering a ‘new dual solution for efficient, in-depth crop analysis’, referring to the ability to capture RGB composite images and multispectral captures for analysing plant health — green, red, red edge and near-infrared and blue bands — in the one flight.

According to the companies, the fixed wing platform enables farming, agricultural science, forestry and environmental protection professionals to gain valuable multispectral crop insights more efficiently than with slower, smaller-coverage multirotor drones.

“This seamless, integrated professional drone offering represents an obvious upgrade path for many agricultural professionals. Customers who already use MicaSense’s RedEdge-MX, for example, now have a quicker, more efficient way to analyse the health of their crops, without having to compromise on data quality,” said Eric Waters, General Manager of MicaSense.

The companies cite rugged design, fast capture rate, full access to raw data and a global shutter on all five lenses as key strength of the Micasense multispectral sensor.

senseFly’s Australian distributor is Arag Australia.
